The Client was responding to the impact of more frequent severe weather events and had adopted a Climate Action Strategy as a response.  Implementation of the Strategy required the formulation and rollout of a bespoke Climate Action Training Programme to upskill the staff cohort.  By 2023, circa 24,000 staff had participated in the training programme.

Ciarán Hayes Consultancy Ltd., working with the client and alongside a team of subject matter experts, contributed to the delivery of several modules.  

The outcome is a pro-active approach by the sector exemplified by the initiation and delivery of innovative climate adaptation and mitigation projects that is facilitating attainment of the statutory National Climate Action targets.    

The Client required a detailed analysis of the National Climate Action Plan, 2023 (CAP 23) and its impact on the sector.  A feature of CAP 23 was the assignment of a comprehensive set of climate actions across the wider public sector with the nomination of lead and supporting agencies responsible for specific actions.  

The outcome was the submission of the analysis inclusive of a set of sectoral  recommendations for implementation both at the strategic and operational levels.
